Friday Night Tennis

Todd Martin Youth Leadership (TMYL), a National Junior Tennis and Learning Program (NTJL) chapter and affiliate of the USTA provides youth tennis programming in cooperation with the City of Lansing and Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club. All coaches for the programs are TMYL staff.

Friday Night Tennis will run April 5th-May 24th for the Spring season.

NJTL (AGES 11-18)

Location: Michigan Athletic Club (2900 Hannah Blvd, East Lansing, MI 48823)
Day/Time: Fridays 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Spring Cost: $58 for Lansing Residents / $87 for Non-Lansing Residents

For players with a range of tennis experience from beginner to high school level. During the first few weeks of tennis, coaches will assess players’ skills and place them in the appropriate group to ensure progress. Program will involve drills and games to improve skills, technique, conditioning, and match strategy while having fun!

YELLOW BALL: For ages 11+.

QUICK START TENNIS (AGES 6 - 10)

Location: Michigan Athletic Club (2900 Hannah Blvd, East Lansing, MI 48823)
Day/Time: Fridays 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Spring Cost: $58 for Lansing Residents / $87 for Non-Lansing Residents

This format utilizes modified tennis balls, smaller racquets and court dimensions to provide a successful learning experience and lots of fun for players 6-10 years old. Progression is from red, orange, green to yellow (adult) balls. Ball, racquet and court transitions are based on a natural progression in technique, skill, athleticism, and age.

TMYL strives to provide instruction at the appropriate level for all participants so they can progress as players while having fun and making friends. TMYL instructors may adjust which ball color or group a player is participating on any given Friday, based on individual skill, technique, and number of participants, etc to facilitate the learning experience and enhance the enjoyment of all the players.

RED BALL: For ages 6-7.

Letts Weekday & Weekend Tennis

This program will take place at Letts Community Center. Kids will play outside on the tennis courts (weather permitting) as long as possible and then will transition into the gym at the community center.

These programs will utilize modified tennis balls, smaller racquets, and smaller court dimensions to provide a successful learning experience and lots of fun for players 6-8 years old. Ball, racquet and court transitions are based on a natural progression in technique, skill, athleticism, and age.

Letts Tennis will run the week of April 2nd-May 26th for the Spring season.

Spring Cost: $40 for Lansing Residents / $60 for Non-Lansing Residents

By registering your child for these programs, you are granting Todd Martin Youth Leadership permission to use your child’s likeness in a photograph/video or comments/quotations made by your child or yourself about the program in any and all of its publications, including website entries, without payment or any other considerations. If you do not grant this permission, please contact Rebecca Johnson at rebecca.johnson@tmyl.org.


Lansing Parks and Rec Cancellation Policy:

Up to one week prior to class/program, full refund less $5.00 service charge. Less than one week prior to first class or program, but before second class/program, one half refund less $5.00 service charge. After second class, no refunds.

Attendance Policy:

Due to the limited number of spots in our program and the number of kids often on our waitlist eager to join FNT, we want to be mindful of participant attendance.

If your child misses more than 3 sessions, he/she will be unenrolled from the class and a refund will not be provided.
