Local Excellence Program

Fall Session 2016/2017 School Year

Local Excellence Training classes will be offered at Michigan State University Tennis Center.  Fall Session will begin on October 7th and run through December 9th, 2016. Classes will be offered through Lansing Parks and Recreation. Individuals interested in taking part in these classes can register by phone, fax or in person at one of the three Lansing Community Centers using our printable 2016-17 Fall Registration Form. Sign up online on the Parks and Recreation website and save $5.

This tennis program is designed for local high school students who have had previous experience in high school tennis or competitive play and are looking to better their game through match play, match strategy, drill sessions, and conditioning. Student's skill level for placement in this program will be determined on the first day of class by the instructors.

The program is in cooperation with Michigan State University Tennis Center and Todd Martin Youth Leadership with Todd Martin Youth Leadership instructors. Classes will meet for 8 sessions at Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Center, 2571 East Mt. Hope, Lansing, MI 48910.

Winter Session 2015/2016 School Year

Summer 2016 Sessions

This tennis program is designed for high school students looking not only to better their game, but gain valuable leadership, team building, life skills and problem solving skills.

Leadership speakers will reinforce these skills along with field trips and a college visit tour to complete the events for this program. An end of year tournament August 9 - 11, an awards family picnic on Thursday, August 12 to present trophies and leadership awards, and a last day match play on Friday, August 14 (for both sessions' participants and families) along with a t-shirt for each participant round out the activities.

This program is provided and staffed by Todd Martin Youth Leadership. Participants should have had previous experience in tournament and/or competitive play. 4 week sessions.

Level to be determined by the site director with overflow courts at Eastern High School if necessary.
